The most meaningful objects are rarely created by one person alone.

Named after the Latin word cooperari, meaning "to work together", COPERARI is a design studio bringing together contemporary design, fine art and generations-old craftsmanship through thoughtful partnerships.

Founded by creative director Nichola Clark in ongoing creative collaboration with her sister, New Zealand artist Jodi Clark, the studio has grown from a shared belief that art, craftsmanship and design become richer through exchange. While Nichola shapes the creative direction of the studio, Jodi's abstract paintings inspire many of COPERARI's original textile designs, each one thoughtfully reinterpreted through a range of hand-crafted techniques, including weaving, tufting, hand printing, knitting and embroidery.

COPERARI has grown through years of travel, conversations with makers and relationships built across New Zealand, New York, Oaxaca and Rajasthan.

Artists, dyers, weavers, knitters, printers, tufters and makers each contribute their creativity, knowledge and skill throughout the process. Their expertise is not simply part of production. It is fundamental to the identity of every collection.

Working alongside artisan partners in Oaxaca, Mexico and Rajasthan, India, COPERARI values long-term relationships built on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. These collaborations allow traditional techniques to continue evolving while creating opportunities for knowledge and creativity to be shared across cultures and generations.

We believe the objects we choose to live with should carry meaning.

Natural fibres, thoughtful sourcing and considered production remain central to the studio, but sustainability extends beyond the materials we use. It is reflected in preserving traditional skills, supporting artisan communities, creating enduring products and making thoughtful decisions that respect both people and place.

Rather than producing more, our focus is on creating fewer things, better. Pieces designed to be lived with, cared for and appreciated for many years.
